or more than two centuries, McFarland House has stood as a monument to the impeccable demeanour, good taste and gracious living that epitomizes Niagara-on-the-Lake. Built at the turn of the 19th century by Scotsman John McFarland, the home was used as a military hospital during the War of 1812 by both the Americans and the British. Today, costumed interpreters provide guided tours of this historic home with several special events hosted throughout the year. McFarland House is the oldest property owned by Niagara Parks.
