A delightful stop along the Niagara-on-the-Lake wine route, Small Talk Vineyards, is a boutique winery that has a wonderful range of wines & cider.
A family-owned small batch winery, the property was bought by Lambert Hunse in 1954 and was initially a fruit and poultry farm. Much later in 1985, the family planted vines marking its foray into wine production. Today, the property spans 78 acres and grows 11 grape varietals. You can choose from a range of bold VQA red wines, white wines and dessert wines. With cider making its presence felt in the Niagara Region, Small Talk Vineyards ventured into the arena with its first cider in 2014 under the brand Shiny Apple Cider.
The winery has a bright and colourful ambience, and wines for every occasion.
Red wines include:
- Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot
- Syrah
- Pinot Noir
If you like white wines, try some that include:
- Riesling-Gewurztraminer
- Riesling-Sauv Blanc
- Pinot Gris
You can also savour dessert wines such as Vidal Icewine, and Riesling Icewine.
If you prefer ciders, the winery has a few refreshing drinks that are truly appealing. The Shiny Apple Cider is crafted from 9 varieties of red apples from Ontario. Gluten free and vegan-friendly, this cider has a 7% alcohol content. It is crisp, with tasty apple flavours and a hint of spice. Another delicious drink is the Shiny Apple Cider with a blend of Pinot Noir that contains 6.5% alcohol. This cider won the People’s Choice third place award at the Ontario Cider Awards 2016. Shiny Apple Cider also won the bronze in the ‘Other Fruit’ category for its pear with Gewürztraminer blend cider.
Enjoy tours of the property and tastings of various wines and ciders. Friendly staff and great conversations make your visit a fun-filled one. You can also sample your wines while relaxing on the patio in pleasant weather. Relish flights of four wines or ciders according to your taste.

I was exploring some fruit stands and noticed this cidery. Took a chance and was pleasantly surprised at the darling location . Complimentary moscat and a few lunch choices with a clean crisp OG...

We went to buy some cider. We did buy cider but I found the server was in a hurry to get rid of us. Perhaps seniors are not welcomed.

We have been here before as far back as when it was Stonechurch. The ciders are very good and we were lucky for a nice sunny day to have our tasting outdoors. Nice and casual.
