Niagara’s Women of War

Born and raised in the Niagara Region, Sarah Kaufman holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree, specializing in History and Politics, and a Master’s in Public History from Western University. She has worked in over 7 of Niagara’s heritage institutions. Sarah became Managing Director of the Niagara-on-the-Lake Museum in 2010 and is responsible for day to day operations, implementing Board directed strategies and policies, as well as the management, research and exhibition of the Museum’s collection. This talk looks at some of the classes of women who lived in the Town of Niagara during the War of 1812 and highlights the experiences of specific women who lived here. The talk also includes a few stories of American women from across the Niagara River.
